Cleaning bat during a match

I am aware that the bat must be left at the table at the end of each game during a match. However can a player take a sponge and or water or cleaning agent to the bat at the table and clean/wipe it to gain more spin for the next game?

Hi Gus,
Yes you can take something to the bat to clean it.

Hitting the Ceiling
When the ball hits the ceiling the point is over. You must hit the ball directly back onto the table otherwise you lose the point. In International tournaments the roof needs to be at least 5 metres above the playing surface but in local competitions you might often encounter much lower ceilings.
