How do you clean Chinese tacky rubbers? I washed it with a damp sponge and wipe it with my hand, but I noticed a decrease in tackiness every single session. I just bought the rubber last year and it was supposed to last 30 years or so, but people keep telling me my rubber is dead. Please help.

Hi Romeo,

It depends on the type of rubber that you get as to how long it will last.  However, no rubber will last 30 years.  In general they last around 100 hours of playing time.

Wiping it with a damp sponge is the best way to clean it.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

I see... I guess it's time to replace the dead rubber frown. Oh yeah, if you have tensor rubbers (JOOLA Green Power) do you also wipe with a damp sponge?

Yes, you can use a damp sponge for all rubbers.

Hi Romeo,

I'm using a chinese tacky rubber. I usually clean it with damp sponge and then paste a tacky protection sheet to keep the tackiness last longer,  you can make your rubber even tackier than before after u use a protection sheet..

And when using a damp sponge or cloth it´s good to do it very gently and not apply any pressure.

By swinging the racket fast through the air a few times it dries very quickly.
