I recently started chopping and am find more and more that one of the greatest difficulties is gameplay strategies (from an originally offensive style). For example, after receiving the second ball (if a loop) i will feel cramped for time and room and not effectively chop the ball - usually blocking or 'half-chopping'. With the game becoming faster and faster what are ways i can counter this issue, do you have any tips specifically for chopping gameplay that i can employ? Maybe there are some routines i can practice?

Thanks heaps!

Hi Elliot,

Thanks for your comments about our videos. It is great to think we are helping.

Some basic strategies for choppers are these:

Keep the ball low
Keep the ball deep on your opponents side
Be patient
Vary the amount of spin you put on your chops
Learn to attack to take advantage of the higherpush returns
Keep pressure on the attacker.  Don't be too defensive.

Choppers need to practice their footwork a lot.  A lot of in and out movement is crucial.  Also practice moving from defense to an attacking position.  So moving in after chopping.

I hope this helps you.
