Hi! I am a modern defender playing inverted on both sides. I would like to vary the spin I use on my chops and in particular develop a no spin chop (but make it look at though I am hitting a regular chop) to deceive the other player. Any suggestions on how to do this? Should I just try to contact the ball closer to the handle to produce less spin? Thanks!

Hi Bob,

Contacting closer to the handle will work but also just flattening out the contact.  Start with your bat in the same position as you would for a heavy backspin and try to change the contact angle and then go back to the initial angle as quickly as possible during the stroke.  This adds deception to the contact.

But try not to contact too close to the handle.
I am unintentionally doing it and I end up stabbing the ball with my index finger's nail instead of chopping it,and I do not want how to solve it :(
