Strategy
Hi coaches
I have seen that some players like Xu Xin,Ryu Seung Min or Wang Hao are called "chopper killers".
I realised that they are very good at using the anti-chopper strategies.
Is there any any option how a tradditional defender can effectively counter such players and strategies while remaining in the defense?
Thanks
DK
PS:Do you think that the player with Matsushita's defensive capabilities,Maze's lobbing skills and Ryu Seung Min's footwork can produce a "perfect defender"?
Hi DK,
I think at this stage it is almost impossible for a defender to beat those type of players but having said that the defenders did really well at the World Championships.

It is sad.
But I still would like to see the clash of Defending Masters against chopper killers.

And would a really universal defender (not a pure chopper, but a player capable of defending by any means) stand a chance against them?
and what about your opinion on PS:
Perhaps a player with all those abilities would stand a chance but I think if you are only defending, the top attackers will still win.

It is a pity that so powerful defender does not exist.
But I have seen Vladimir Samsonov quite often play a semi-defensive game against xuxin (he used higher spinny slower well-placed loops,a style that is called "defensive looping" by my teammates) and he was quite successfull with it.
Is it an option how to play them?
And also-how exactly the anti-chopper strategies work?
