Hi

Chinese and European differences.  What the differences on the both of them? Ex.How they loop, their strategy, they principle etc.

Why do europeans love to serve reverse pendulum and chinese love to serve pendulum?

THANK YOU

JUDAH

Hi Judah,

There are not a lot of real differences.  It is an interesting observation that the Chinese serve more pendulum and the Europeans serve more reverse.  I have never really thought about it.

If it is statistically right, it may be that the Reverse tends to suit backhand players a  bit more.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this one?

i think the chinese loop is a much longer stroke with a straight arm till near the end of the follow through, where as the euro usually have a more compact loop, sometimes keeping a bend in the elbow on the backswing. is this true?

i think the chinese players tend to be fh dominant while euro tend 2b allround.

Andrew,

The Chinese in general do seem to have a bigger swing at the ball.  Is it because they are in a good position to be able to do this more often perhaps?

Oliver,

I think your generalisation is correct.

i  think that in the forehand loop chinese players use in a really different way their knees... i reffer that europeans players keep their elbows still ... but chinese players use it for generating more speed...

let's take a look ...

Ma Long...

Timo Boll...( see after the second minute)

I chose videos against Joo See Hyuk Because i think when somebody is playing against a chopper we can see his loop clearly..

However i think there is exceptions like Jan-Ove Waldner and Kalinikos kreanga

I also think that the chinese forehand loop tends to follow through a bit more forward than the european loop. I think its mainly because most chinese players use tacky rubbers on their forehand which allows them to "hold" the ball a bit more. Also, since tacky rubbers are usually slower than european/japanese rubbers their stroke has to be bigger in order to get the power and spin necessary.
