I'm on a tight budget, what do you recommend for poor mans glue?
I've heard Tear Mender is good, I've used Elmers rubber cement but it's a bit heavy
thanks guys ... George
Hi George,
I don’t think you should use anything except specific Table Tennis glue. If you use something else you may ruin an expensive rubber and end up spending more.
Question actions
Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.

If you can use it, look for bigger volumes bottles of glue. 15ml containers are ridiculously costly. For about 2-3 times as much money you can find 1 litre bottles, so proportionally they're much cheaper. Team up with some friends if you have no use of such a large quantity. Don't plan on keeping it forever though, the solvent tends to evaporate once the bottle has been opened. I'm speaking about glues with VOC here, I have no experience with the water-based ones. VOC glues are still legal if you let the solvent evaporate for a couple of days before entering a competition, and they won't kill you if you use them only twice a year instead of twice a day like in "the good old days".
