Hi guys,

I started tabletennis 2 years ago and for my first bat someone at the club chose for me a blade 729 Super Carbon (39 euro) with a rubber LKT PRO XP (11 euro - 2 sides). So I had a whole bat for 60 euro.

Now I would like to change my rubber because this LKT PRO XP is a 1.5mm and I would like to change to a thicker rubber. I was watching the reviews of Mark V and would you think it's a good choice for me ?

My blade 729 Super Carbon is an OFF+ blade would this be a good combination with the Mark V and do I go for 1.8mm or directly to 2.0mm. Like I understand the 1.5mm gives more control and less speed and when I would change to 1.8mm it will give me a little less control but a litte more speed ?

So is Mark V a good option 1.8 or 2.0 and should I stay with the same blade ? Is this 729 Super Carbon a good blade ? Mark V is OFF- if I'm correct and should I go with this one or Mark V GPS, HPS, Soft ? But they are not all possible to receive in 1.8mm.

Is it best to go for the same rubber red (FH) and black (BH) to have the same feeling both sides ?

My style is attack but I would like to have enough control and spin too.

With all the possibilities on the market it is a difficult choose ?

Can you help me?

Hi Mark,

You are right there are a lot of confusing choices.  The Mark V would be fine.  Go with the 2mm it will be right for you.

the much more important thing is how much you train with it after you get it.

Hi Alois,

But isn't it more diffucult to adapt to a 2mm then to a 1.8mm when you are used to play with 1.5mm or is it just a question of time ?

Is it a question to close the bat more with thicker rubbers when playing topspin/couterhits ? What are the advantages of thicker rubbers copared to thinner rubbers about spin/pushes/topsin/backspin ?

And what about my blade 729 Super Carbon ? Any thoughts if I should keep this one combined with the Mark V ?

Should I go with the Mark V original or other versions of the Mark V, GPS, HPS, Soft ?

Any suggestions anyone ?
