Challenge ladder

Can you help me set up a challenge ladder for ping-pong?

There is a tennis table in our office building. Many of us play during lunch or after work.

I remember having a challenge ladder in my high school. My thought is that there is probably some information available about how to set one up.

Thanks

Hi Murray,

To make it simple start with a ranking list of who you think is the top player and work down the rankings.  If you want to get complex run a round robin tournament were everyone plays everyone else, to get a reasonably accurate starting ranking.

Then you can set up some rules around the challenges.  I use a system where you can challenge a player up to 2 ranking positions ahead of you.  If you beat them you swap positions.  So if you are number 10 and you beat the number 8 ranked player, you become 8 and they become 10.  If you challenge then you have to take a challenge before challenging again.  You can make up yoru own rules depending on the group.

Let me know as you get it started if there are any other questions.  I think a lot you can make up to suit your group.

I also have a no re-challenge on the day rule.
