Block against sidespin forehand topspin

Hi pingskills

My question is: How to block a sidespin forehand topspin exactly? Because I tried to change a little bit the angle of the bat when I'm making the block just to nullify the spin but the ball is coming too fast (I can block a simple topspin)? And where is the best point to hit the ball when you're blocking (I mean height)? Thank you

Hi Adrian,

It sounds like you have the basic technique right.  Now it is a matter of getting the angles right and also watching the ball.  Because it is curving the ball is following a different path to what you are used to.  It takes time to adjust.  The masters make it look so easy because they are able to track the ball so well and adjust the angle of their rackets.

Ideally you want to block the ball at the peak of its bounce.  You can get the most power from there because there is more of a direct line to the table.
