HI Alois and Jeff,

I have seen some TT shop sites do this, that they offer free blade lacquering. What is blade lacquering? Does it affect the spin and feel of the racket?

Hi Cloud,

It is just a varnish that protects the wood from splintering.  I don't think this is as important as when players were removing the rubbers regularly with speed glue.

Choosing a Table Tennis Table

The thickness of a table tennis table is the most important aspect of a table to ensure you get a true consistent bounce. Other things to consider are the net, portability, and storage space.

I wonder if the lacquer used could potentially contain VOCs, which might make the bat illegal afterwards (at least at the higher level). See this video on ITTF testing a bat (the VOC check starts at about 05:15).
