Big or little swing

Strokes

I had a fairly decent and very effective stroke without using full arm swing. I lately tried to change it slightly adapting to chinese players (ma long ,etc) who fully stretch the arm backwards on the opening movement, however it doesnt seem to work for me. Should I keep trying hoping to improve later or just abandon it? Does it produce a more lethal stroke?

Thank you

Hi George,

This is a matter of preference.  The longer stroke will generate more speed if you have enough time to play the ball.  This is because you have a longer lever to work with. However you can also generate more speed by moving the shorter arm awing faster.  There are also very good players in the world that have shorter swings.  See which one feels comfortable for you.
