Strokes
Hi!
I'm working on my BH topspin stroke of a backspin ball. And it's improving, but when I make that BH stroke I notice that I don't finish the swing as high as I would do with the FH topspin swing? But never the less the BH stroke still works for some reason? How is that possible and I'm not sure if it's even correct to end the BH stroke at shoulder height?
And one other thing with the BH stroke, that it seems much easer to hit the ball to hard and over the table?! Do I need to be more careful (holding back a little) with the BH stroke in comparison to the FH stroke?
Thx in advance!
Cheers Berus
Hi Bertus,
If the stroke is working for you then it is good. You may don't need to go as high because of the way your arm and swings and your wrist works on the backhand as compared to your forehand.
If you are hitting the ball off the end, think about putting a bit more topspin on the ball to get it to dip down.
Question actions
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
