Strategy
Hi Alois and Pingskills
i have a doubt, wich is the best game style? wich is the best to me? Counterloop over the table, middle distance topspin to topspin, block, attack over the table or away?
I'm a very complete player, with a good technique (according to my coach), good strokes over and away the table, good blocks, great serves, good footwork, great counterattack...but i don't win! Then i was wondering if my game style is wrong...usually i begin the attack and i try to keep in it, i feel comfortable, but i don't win...but if i stay over the table, blocking and counterattacking i win a lot of points, and maybe the match, but i don't feel comfortable blocking over the table, i feel that i'm defending, and that doesn't makes me feel confident...what should i do? How i can find the best game style to me?
PLEASE HELP
Thanks
Hi Cristh,
Perhaps you need to think about Match Strategy for each of your opponents. Take a look through the Vault and you will get some ideas of how to analyse your opponents. Having the best shots often doesn’t mean anything unless you can execute them at the right time and to the right positions.
When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.
