How often should I clean my bat rubber, and what should I use? Up to now I use a propriety bat-cleaning foam (by Joola) and use it maybe every few weeks.

Hi Dennis,

How often?

  • Ideally after every session — a quick wipe is enough.

Why clean it regularly?

  • Removes dust, ball residue, and sweat oils that reduce spin.

  • Keeps the surface grippy, especially important for tacky or soft rubbers.

What to use?

  • For everyday cleaning: just water and a clean damp sponge (ideally a soft one made for rubbers). Wipe gently and let it air dry.

  • Avoid harsh soaps or alcohol, which can dry out or damage the surface.

Extra tip: After cleaning, use a rubber protector film to keep dust off and maintain tackiness longer.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
