Equipment
Hello Alois,
I am a new, trending into an intermediate player and I have been playing with a Killerspin Jet 400 for close to a year. I like the bat but I have trouble getting enough spin on my forehand loops to get them to land. I like the control but feel it lacks spin. I was looking at one of the Ping Skills bats as a possible upgrade. Not being around the sport much and unable to try different setups I was hoping for a little pro advice. Also, I have a 9 year old boy who plays as well so any advice on a setup for him would be appreciated. He is a beginner but is better than most adults who come play with us.
Hi Matt,
You could probably go for the Touch with Rakza 7 for yourself and the Touch with Mark V for your son. If you think that he may struggle with the Mark V you cold go for the Rook to start with. If he has been playing for a year and had the basic strokes right, then the Mark V should be OK.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
