Banana Flicks or push return

Hi Alois and Jeff,

I have been watching Banana Flicks off service introduced by top players. I have practiced it and now I can play it, too. But, by doing so, especially, in matches, the opponent gets an easy ball to attack, as there is no backspin on it. The question is, should I continue using banana flicks or do pushes while returning the services?

Hi Jaydev,

Perhaps the push return suits your game better.  The Banana flick can open up the rally for your opponent if you can't play it fast enough or place the ball well enough.  In that case you are better off pushing the return.

Hi Alois and Jeff,

As per your advice, I have started to practice Banana flicks. Now, I can hit it faster and place the ball well, varying from the middle to the wide bh. It works, still I need practice to hit every ball nicely.

Thank You!

Glad that it is going well for you.  This is something you will always need to practice because it requires a lot of touch.
