Strokes
Some of the players hit the ball in the side of them, some are in front of their body when hitting a forehand topspin.
when and where should I hit the ball when blocking?
when and where should I hit the ball when driving?
How will I block a ball when the ball is targeted on my hips?
Hi Adam,
In general you hit the ball in the same position in relation to your body. Clasp your hands together in front of you. Where your hands meet is a good hitting zone for you. You can move this hitting zone slightly closer or further away from your belly depending on the length of your swing. This applies for both forehand and backhand and for both blocks and drives. The drives can be a little further away from your body and the blocks a little closer in.
You can pivot your upper body to vary this hitting spot, but it needs to stay in the same spot in relation to your body.
If the ball is at your hip, ideally if you have time, you need to take a small side step and get the ball into the correct htitting zone. If you don't have time, just turn your hips and sway your body a little away from the ball.
I hope you can follow this without any diagrams.
