Ball missed the table but still played

if I play on a shot that's off the table and miss, do i lose the point ?

Hi George,
Once the ball goes out past the table it is out and the person that hit the ball loses the point. Even if after that the other player touches the ball with their bat the ball is already out.

Hitting the Ceiling
When the ball hits the ceiling the point is over. You must hit the ball directly back onto the table otherwise you lose the point. In International tournaments the roof needs to be at least 5 metres above the playing surface but in local competitions you might often encounter much lower ceilings.
