Hi Alois and Jeff,

Firstly I would like to thank you for all of your help. It has really improved my game and in the upcoming table tennis tournament in my school im am seeded no.1.

Also, I would like you to give me some tips on backspin. Since I am a defensive player, I have practiced my backspin a lot, and am geting good at it. I have started to make players hit the net very often, but i notice that on some occasions my backspin is too high and better players would easily be able to smash it. Could you please help me to improve my backspins by keeping them low.

Thanks,

Mustafa

Hi Mustafa,

Thanks for you praise.

The first tip is to aim low. This may sound simple but try it out.  It is very effective.  Put your focus during practice on keeping the ball as low over the net as you can.  So, the centre of your target becomes the top of the net.  If you miss the target by a lot and go way over the net it is not as good as just hitting the ball into the top of the net.  Focus on this and you will be amazed at the results.

Technically, this can be done by swinging more down with your stroke rather than forward.

Good luck at the tournament.
