Strokes

Sir, it is very difficult to place the b/h topspin to the desired section of the board. Often when i do this stroke, the topspin is not generated. it goes as if i hit the ball flat. Please advice on that. How to play b/h topspin to the opponents's f/h side? It always goes out. What should be the correct stroke for that placement?

Hi Earl,

First make sure you are getting the right stroke that we show you in the lesson on the Backhand Topspin Against Block.  Then put some targets on the table and aim for them.  This is the easiest way to get the direction right.  If you start to worry about the small changes to get the ball to different positions you will start to compromise the stroke.

Strawberry Flick

The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
