Hi Andreas,

Think about the contact of the bat on the ball.  Make sure you are getting a good brushing contact to generate the spin.

Aim high over the net, the topspin will bring the ball down.  That will give you a good margin for error over the net.

Then like everything it is about practice.

This is one area my opponent knows as my weakness... hope it works in today's tournament final match !

Why do i keep losing in matches even if my opponent is weaker? Just because i lack confidence?

This can be the difference or your opponent may not have good shots but have a good ability to win points with tactics or by doing something that you are not used to.

Dear Geetika... this used to be a problem that I faced sometime back. My strokes are good but inconsistent. When I win I can defeat far stronger player but I lose to less advance player easily sometimes.

So I worked on consistency... few ideas that helped initially to simplify game were... moderation of speed in top spin attack, placement is important too,  respecting opponent efforts, keeping the ball on the table and pushes are not bad thing at all, simplifying serve receiving, accepting that hitting supersonic loops on every ball is good for Ma Long and not for me... and lastly work on serving and third attack.

Hope this helps you... tk care, good luck
