What can i do?
Hi David,
This is one of the progressions of learning a stroke. You are on the right track. Now you just need to keep practicing it more so that it becomes even more natural and you will be able to use it in a match. Start by getting yourself to play the stroke in a match where you know the result, so against a weaker or much better player. Then you can start to use it against closer opponents.
This is the way that we progress our skills.
Once you've mastered the start and finish position of the forehand topspin, you can start to focus on finer details. In this video we talk about the position of your legs, weight transfer, varying the finish position, incorporating footwork, the use of your wrist, and the angle of your bat for the stroke.
