Strokes
Hi there
I never see any professional players do such stroke. Does TT have a backhand smash?
If yes, how to do it effectively? If no, why not many players do a backhand smash? Why are they likely to move their bodies to the right position and perform a forehand smash instead?
Thanks
Ittipat
HI Ittipat,
The reason for this is that if you have enough time to play a backhand smash you have enough time to step around and play a forehand smash which is more reliable and you can generate more power from because of the bigger swing.

but it's possible to do that right ? then is it just like how to do forehand smash ? and also can you please make the video for us ? if you can't then it's no problome... hehehe
Take a look at Forehand Smash. Then try to adapt it to the backhand. Make sure your bat starts up high.

oh i see... so it just like the forehand smash with the bat starts up high and hit the ball flat and through...
then, what about the position ? i think it'll different with the forehand because the bat will be near head to do it... am i right ?
Turn side on the other way.

I think Jorgen Persson was pretty good at backhand smashing. The most famous one is perhaps the match point vs Samsonov at Beijing olympics. Take a look, I personally love it (point starts at 1:09:40 but the whole match is great)

That is a great shot.
