Strokes

Hi,

I've already seen the video regarding the backspin return when the spin of the ball is underspin.

What is the best contact of the ball when you want to generate a heavy backhand top spin if the ball you are returning is top spin.

Is it ok to contact the ball when the trajectory of the ball is going down or as early as possible.

Kindly advise.

Thanks.

Hi Gener,

You would come over the ball because of the topspin already on the ball.  Take a look at the lesson on the Topspin to Topspin.  These principles apply to what you are talking about.

Anticipation

How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
