Hi Coach,

I want to ask what is the difference between Backhand Flick and Backhand Sidespin Flick (Banana Flick)? What are thier advantages.

Hi Tushar,

The sidespin flick is a more complex shot but in a way can be easier against a backspin ball.  It is a more difficult shot to return as well.  I guess that is why it has become so popular.

Which could be best against heavy sidespin?

You can try to brush over the top of the ball, i.e. a topspin flick. This should be not hard to do, since you're avoiding the spin in this case.

No, I'm talking about the backhand topspin flick aka topspin over the table. It is like sidespin flick, but you brush more the top of the ball, rather than side. You can look at this demonstration, notice that he generates mostly topspin with very little sidespin if any.

It is a backhand flick only but with a twist of backhand sidespin flick and yes it is effective.
