Strokes
I've started playing tennis table about 2 months ago so I'm just a beginner and apologize in advance for possible stupid questions.
I've watched many times your videos on Backhand, both counterhit and topspin and saw many players, I would say good enough players, hitting the ball with backhand.
What seems to me is that there is not a "right" way to perform backhand. Each player can have a different technique but the most important thing is how the paddle impact the ball.
Please let me know what you think cause I'm really striving to perform a backhand which does not want to come out of my hand ......
HELP !!!
Hi Vito,
You are right there are different ways to tackle the stroke and the most important thing is the contact of the bat on the ball.
The way we teach the strokes tries to make sure that the contact is as simple as possible. By following the start and finish positions that we teach you will learn the stroke. Of course it will take time and practice but be really strict about the start and finish position to get it right quicker.
The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
