Hi Alois or Jeff ???? I was wondering if you guys could help me with this complication that I'm having. First of all the reason I wanted to ask you this is because my friend does the same smash every time I send a topspin backhand serve. I tried making my stance better but it seems this has no effect. Also I normally use a Karakal bat and a Dunlop Revolution 7500 & I am 12 from Britain. Soon we are going to have a tornament with other High Schools so this could really help. Thanks from Jamie

Also I love your channel and web!

Hi Jamie,

The key here is to keep your serve a bit shorter.  Instead of the topspin serve, try to drop the serve short over the net and also keep the ball lower.  This will stop him from making that fast return.

Take a look at this previous video response. Don't Use a Plain Topspin Serve.
If he does happen to make the smash and you are looking to chop it with your backhand, try to move back quickly from the table and get yourself side on to play the chop.  Take a look at this lesson on the Backhand Chop as well.

Let me know if this helps.
