Back Hand Counter off Underspin

Strokes

First, I want to thank you for giving me this opportunity to ask a question.

I am left handed and a bit confused about the proper weight shift during the execution of the back hand counter off back spin.  I am bending my knees which grants a supple movement of the stroke, but not sure if I am placing the right amount of weight shift.  I am giving more push, a little forward and up, using my right foot and right hip.  Is this correct or am I getting into a bad habit?

Hi James,

I would say the weight transfer sounds ok but you need to think about doing more of a topspin action and contact rather than a counter.  Think about more up than forward if the ball has a more backspin.

Take a look at the tutorial on the Backhand Topspin Off Backspin.

Snake Shot

A snake shot is a type of stroke which is specifically used against a drop shot. It is usually loaded with a heavy spin so that the opponent finds it difficult to counter. The type of spin can be backspin, sidespin or topspin depending on your choice. You need to make a movement after hitting the ball to confuse your opponent.
