Awkward position while playing forehand topspin

Strokes

Hello I am working out on the forehand topspin against block and while doing so I always stuck up at a point where the block of my practice partner is not so sound and the ball comes just near the table in front of me and I am bit away from it, which sometimes is not reachable and I end up lobbing or playing an awkward shot. So, my questions is how do I tackle such situation where I need to regain my balance when the ball comes a bit in front of me? Is there anything that I need to keep in my mind regarding the speed of incoming ball.

Thank You

Hi Ankush,

You can do a few things in this situation.

Firstly if you bend lower you will get the ball at a god height to yourself.  This will take a lot of knee bend to make it happen well.

Secondly you can step forward with your left leg so that it is closer to the ball.  This will also get you into a better position to hit the topspin.

Thirdly and preferably, step forward with both feet so that you are in a balanced position to hit the topspin.
