Are the new plastic balls prone to temperature changes

Equipment

For the past few weeks we've been playing in 30 deg heat, but tonight we were playing in a big stadium where it was well under 20 degrees when you weren't playing (Melbourne was cold tonight).

We went through 7 of the plastic balls (we broke 4 in 1 match - 2 heavy hitters).

Could it be because the extreme decrease in the temperature today?? Have you heard of this happening before with the plastic balls? It never happened with the old balls.

Hi Beauford,

That is interesting. I haven't heard of this happening myself but it certainly sound feasible.

Has anybody else had an experience of the plastic balls breaking after an extreme decrease in temperature?

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

I confirm. Plastic balls break (even) easier when they are cold.
