Any alternative to TSP Spectol Red

Equipment

Hello Alois!

Recently I had the pleasure of trying a sheet of TSP Spectol Red and I really liked it. Unfortunately upon removal the sponge tore up severely and rendered the rubber unusable. Thankfully the topsheet is pristine and the sponge came off the topsheet clean but I don't want to use it with an aftermarket sponge because it's not a legal combination.

Now the rubber is out of production and victas hasn't brought it back, is there any very soft and fast short pips similar to this one? I've tried a couple but nothing seems to have that same feeling, I've tried 802 mystery 3, clippa, baxter f1a, Moristo sp but they behave very differently. I like the soft high tension feeling of the red that drops the ball, it's incredibly unique.

There is stock in a shop in Italy, but with it being out of production, it's not a long term solution to just stock up. Do you have any recommendations?

Thank you for your time!

Hi John,

Finding a direct replacement for a discontinued rubber like the TSP Spectol Red can indeed be quite a challenge, especially when you've grown fond of its specific characteristics. Given your preference for a soft, high-tension short pimple rubber that offers a unique drop to the ball, I will see if our readers have any suggestions for you.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
