Recently I have had an idea of opting long pips or anti. Can u brief me the pro and cons of these two types.

Hi Prakul,

They have similar qualities.  The long pimples will allow you to do a little more with the ball because you an generate a slight amount of spin whereas you can't generate any spin with the anti spin.

Most players will use long pimples now given that choice.

If you're going for one that is value for money, try Friendship 729-755 1mm sponge. It has rather decent control. I've used it before, and returning pendulum serves with sidespin wasn't a problem. My friend used it as well, and (said) controlling smashes and returning them back on the table was not an issue. It's S$20 here in Singapore. I recommend it. I've not used other long pips before.

Long pips are easier to be affected by opponent's spin, so you need to adjust the bat angle a lot more. but also, it easier to add spin as well, you can return an extreme heavy backspin. So if you do a lot of chopping or sidespin chop, then go for long pips.

Antispin hardly affected by opponent's spin, also cannot produce much spin, so chopping won't add as much backspin as long pips. However, when you try to counter topspin it will still return as backspin to your opponent. If you want to use that to confuse the opponent, want to easily reverse the spin just by touching it, then go for antispin.

Spin - long pips > anti
easy to use - anti > long pips
deception by chopping - long pips > anti
deception by blocking/touching - anti > long pips

Rubber recommend:

Longpips:
SAUER&TROGER Hellfire - very high control and deception, suitable for receiving and moving opponent around the table.
Tibhar Grass D.TecS - less control than Hellfire, but has faster speed and more deception, suitable for heavy chopping and smashing.

Anti:
der materialspezialist transformer - heavy deception by blocking, easy to keep the ball short. Early speed also really fast, suitable for close to the table Allround playstyle. e.g. https://youtu.be/3QnS8Euk9h8
