The Pendulum serve is my favourite. To do this start by being side on to the table. If you are right handed, touch your left leg to the backhand corner of the table. Then have your elbow up at shoulder height and use your forearm in a Pendulum motion. Get a good brushing contact on the ball and whip your forearm and wrist through. This should get you a good start to learning the serve.
