Aggressiveness and consistency

Hi Jeff and alois,

When I play table tennis, I can't only focus on either aggressiveness or consistency. I can only play either fast but inconsistent or consistent but slow

I have experimented on both aggressiveness and consistency. When I play more aggressive, I can put my opponent under pressure. But then, I always miss the table or hit the net. Therefore, I lost. Then I played quite consistent and hit slower. When playing the match, I can't keep more balls on the table but my opponents can attack me aggressively and put me under pressure and therefore I also lost.

I think consistency and aggressiveness is both important but one itself is not gonna help. How can I combine aggressiveness and consistency together?

Hi Eugene,

This is something that develops as your whole game develops.  Increase in speed and consistency is a sign of development.  When we start to play we can only play consistently at a very slow pace.  As we progress, the speed at which we remain consistent increases.
