A bit confused

Hi,i got 2 questions.The first is...why the international player usually wipe the upper corner of the table after they lose or win...the second is...how do i block sidespin hook ball....

Hi Martin,

The players wipe the table to get the sweat off their hands and cool their hands a little.  For some though it is just a habit.

To block a sidespin hook ball you need good touch.  Angle your bat to allow for the sidespin.  The sidespin will mean that is usually doesn't have as much topspin so you may also need to lift the ball more than you would a normal block.

I rub the table between points often.  Mostly because my hands get pretty sweaty and I find I lose grip, but also it helps if you need a little time to compose yourself - especially if your opponent is serving and likes to rush through points.

what will happen if my hand touches the table while i\'m playing?

My understanding is if the hand holding your racquet touches the table, that's okay.  However, if your free hand touches the table, you forfeit the point.

Actually, you can touch the table with ANY part of your body (except your free hand), as long as you don't move the table.  If you do move the table you automatically forfeit the point.
