Dear Alois
1) I'm currently a one-wing looper and I'd like to make a transition to a 2-wing. I've already watched your backhand loop video a few times, but do you guys have any other tips? I think I need to angle my bat downwards more, but do you have any other tips to produce more topspin/power?
2) Will you ever be making a video with a match between you and Jeff? I would like to see one, just for the fun of it.
Hi Mike,
The backhand loop basics are covered in the video but I think the things to really emphasise are the position of your body. I find the backhand a little less forgiving than the forehand in this way.
If the ball is going off the end a lot, yes angle your bat down slightly. The changes to your stroke are always a result of what is happening to the ball, i.e. where the error goes.
To get more power, hit the ball from slightly outside the line of your body. This will enable a slightly bigger swing.
As for a match between Jeff and I, I think you would be better off watching some of the pros. You can watch the World Championships by going to the ITTF website.
