Too much push and chop

Strategy

Hi, coach!

I use push and chop too much, because pushes and chops are uncomfortable to many attackers. Even some good attacking players can't lift backspins. I can easily win some players who train with personal trainers for 2-3 years. If I play them attacking game, I lose. But using spinny pushes and chops doesn't work vs advanced players. When I play advanced players I know that they will loop my spinny pushes and chops but I still push and chop because of being a habit.  Should I try to change my game and minimize push and chop? Should I try to eliminate "backspin" habit from my game?

Best wishes, Ardak.

Hi Ardak,

I think if you are trying to be the best player that you can get to then starting to attack more is the best way forward.

This doesn't mean that you can't push against the weaker players but start to develop your attacking game in training and then see how you can start to implement it more in matches.  You will also be able to start to beat the lower ranked players in matches using the attacking play once you have trained it for a while.
