Hi pingskills I currently use the shakehand but I really want to switch to the japanese penhold grip and style , can you sort me out. I've alrealdy seen the how to hold a bat video.

Hi Dilena,

The question I have is why you want to change.  If you just find the Japanese more comfortable then that is fine.

If you have been playing for many years then staying with the same grip is probably preferable.

If you do change grips, you will find forehand techniques are very similar.  The main changes you will have to make are with the backhand.  It is much harder to play an attacking backhand stroke with the Japanese penhoid.  You will also need to think about using more footwork to get around and play more forehands.
