Tactics vs techniques

Strategy

Hi alois,

I have to admit I do not have the best techniques. Which makes it very difficult for me to use any tactics effectively. For example, push short or push long and deep. I do not know how to do these strokes consistently. Another example are long serves and third ball placements. I can't even do all these techniques consistently. So how am I gonna use them against stronger opponents?

My question is, do I need to have good techniques to be able to use tactics effectively?

Hi Eugene,

Technique is the first step to be able to play.  When you have good technique and can adapt to varying balls then you can start to think about tactics in the match.

So in the meantime, how can I beat or AT LEAST challenge the better players?

Keep developing your technique and while playing matches see the best placement for your strokes and also the best serves and serve placement that will be effective against that opponent.
