Hello Coach ,,   I just bought a new TT table for home and I bought an XuShaoFa ITTF approved table .

I have noticed that the paint on the playing  surface grips the ball much more than older Stiga tables I have used at my cub and other clubs ....If I slide the ball on the older Stiga tables the surface seems like glass and lets the ball slide across the table easily .

My short serves work well at home but are nearly impossible to execute on the club tables and the ball goes long every time making my practice at home of short services a waste of time ...I also noticed that when my son came over to play his "chops " stood up instead of sliding through ..

Is there anything I can do to make my new table more like the tables I use at tournaments and clubs ...Perhaps some car polish to make the surface have less friction??

Cheers  Allan

Hi Allan,

I don’t think there is anything that you can do to change the surface.  With wear they tend to get a little smoother but it will take a while to do this.  I think if you try t tamper with the surface you may damage it is some way.

Yes     ---  it may be a case of you get what you pay for .....

I also feel some of those old tables are almost too glassy

I remember years ago my club used car polish on their tables and I don't seem to remember them being ruined by the process ..

Any way   thanks for your prompt response     .....
