How long and wide should a proper table tennis table be?

Hi,

The Table is 9ft or 2.74m by 5ft or 1.525m.  The height of the surface off the floor is 76cm and the height of the net is 6in or 15.25cm.  Just as a little trick to remember the metric measurements... If you add up the digits within each measure in the metric measurements they all add up to 13... 2 + 7 + 4 etc...

Here is a link to our rules booklet that will also help you if you have any other rules questions.

Hitting the Ceiling

When the ball hits the ceiling the point is over. You must hit the ball directly back onto the table otherwise you lose the point. In International tournaments the roof needs to be at least 5 metres above the playing surface but in local competitions you might often encounter much lower ceilings.
