Training

I was wondering what kind of weight lifting exercises you would suggest to do, that would really help in matches and over-all table tennis play.   I know doing running and any other aerobic exercises are is a great way.  But what else?

Hi Daniel,

The main muscles that need work is the legs as this is where your power comes from.

Take a look at a previous blog.

Weight Training Specifically for Table Tennis and Strength Conditioning for Table Tennis

I think these will help you.

The Controller

Most drills involve one person performing the exercise and the other placing the ball as required by the exercise. We call this person placing the ball the controller. When you are acting as the controller it is a great opportunity to practice your blocking and concentration. As blocking is an important part of the game you should be 100% focused at this time. You also owe it to your training partner to be blocking effectively so they get the most from their exercise.

im told that doing barbell squats with low weight and high number of reps is very good for table tennis conditioning.

I am pretty sure it is heavy squats 9-14 reps and 3 sets is better because that would make u more explosive
