Hi Felix,

This is a difficult shot.  It is one that Jeff talks about a lot.  When he first started to try and learn the stroke he says he really struggled with the whole concept of the stroke.

Focus on the start and finish position and also on the topspin contact on the ball as we show you in the Forehand Topspin Off Backspin tutorial.  These three things will work together to get the stroke right.  It will take time as it is difficult to get the contact correct while making the swing.

Persevere with it and I am sure you will start to get the stroke.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
