Hi there,

I'm 14 and i've gone to a few competitions.I've been playing ping pong for three years now and i joined a training center this year

In all my competitions, i meet with the same strong players who make me lose everytime. They are so experienced.Even though i train and get better, they also do.  It has started to feel impossible to beat them.

I wonder if I should stop playing ping pong because the more competitions i go,the more it makes me feel like i will never be able to compete in these competitions and go further

Hi Yusra,

Firstly, the simple answer is No!

I have seen this situation so many times.  It is incredible how many players stop playing at an early age.  When you keep playing you will see that it is highly likely that most of those other players you re talking about won't even be playing in a few years.

Just look to maintain your focus and training over the next 5 years and you will see how far you will get.

You also don't know what the other players' rate of improvement will be.  It may slow down or speed up or stop completely, it is impossible to tell.

Focus on what you are able to control... your training.

Apart from that, if you are still playing in 5 or 10 years you will have improved, learnt a lot about the game and yourself and you will have a very good base to be able to play the game for a lifetime.
