Hi Coach,
With long pimples i know what stroke to play. For e.g. If i push, the long pimple turns it into a counter and depending on the height of the return i either smash the ball or make a fast topspin for a winner.
But i keep on making unforced errors by hitting the ball in the net with the short pimpled player. The player does not have enough strokes, he just banks upon his s.p side on the backhand to push it back or counter it slowly back. The ball stays low for me to counter it back and hitting a topspin from my backhand is difficult due to old rubber.
I think i still dont know the effects of the s.p. So i am not prepared about the type of return. Need help.
Hi Shaji,
The short pimples just doesn't generate as much spin as inverted pimples. The ball will come through flatter. It may feel like it has backspi but the ball is coming through without much topspin.
The best thing against short pimples players is to play with heavy topspin or backspin. This will be hard for the short pimple player to handle.
