Receiving
When there is right side spin or left side spin in the ball while returning serve. There is no condition that we should receive it to the right or left hand side of other player . That is by practice we can receive any type of spin to anywhere on the table.
Whether my understanding is correct ??
Thanks a lot sir.
Hi Kedar,
That is correct. If you let the ball just hit your bat it will go back in the direction the spin takes it. You have the ability to change the angle of your racket to steer it back to where you want it, even the opposite side of the table.
It is all about the angle of your racket on contact.
A really important skill in table tennis is to be able to judge if a serve will be short or long. If it's short you won't be able to take a full swing at the ball and hence will need to use either a push or a flick to return the ball. However, if it is coming long then you can make a topspin attack. In this video we give you some tips to help you judge the length of the serve and hopefully this makes you a better returner.
