Thicker rubber on Backhand

Strategy

Hi Alois and Jeff,

while I know it's very common to use a thicker rubber on the forhehand than on the bachhand side, the opposite seems to be rather unusual. Yet I've been doing this for quite some time now, because with my fh I alternatively chop and topspin, while I never chop with the bh, but only push and spin. The combo seems right for me because the heavy fh chop is my "natural" stroke, which gives opponents very much trouble attacking, too. (I can still produce a reasonable amount of topspin with the thinner sponge, and with excellent control.) All a bit strange, maybe - do you happen to know anyone with a playing style like mine?

Best wishes

Andrej

Hi Andrej,

This is quite an acceptable way to play at your level.  It is always about what your playing style is.  The fact that it is unusual probably makes it more difficult to play against you.

I wonder if any of our other PingSkillers play in a similar way.
