Robot or fold up table

Training

In watching the stroke tutorials, I see two players hitting the ball back and forth to demonstrate and practice.  I like to practice more than others I play with, and obviously a robot would allow me to drill effectively on my own.  But I'm wondering if I can get by without a robot by practicing my shots against the other half of the table in a folded up position.  Do you show how to practice strokes this way in any of your tutorials?  I would like to practice my strokes without a partner or robot if possible. Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom,

Practising against the folded up table is a good way to start to play and learn some hitting skills however, it becomes very limited in progressing past that.

If at all possible find someone to hit with or if you can’t do that then the robot is the next best option.

Beating Defenders

Against defenders you've generally got a bit more time to make your attack and so you can be more selective on which ball to target. Think about finding your opponent's weaker side and whether they prefer a faster ball coming towards them or a slower ball. Try different spins, speed and placement! Watch the video now to learn more great tips on how to beat a defender.
