Hi Alois and Jeff,
I am presently playing in penhold but i am good even in shakehand. i am good in smashing long returns in shakehand and good in smashing short returns in penhold. I am not good at pushing the ball to the other court in both the grips because i give a slow push and a bit high so i get smashed in my push. How to push the ball properly and which grip should i choose.
Hi Harikrishnan,
There are great players who use the penhold grip and great players who use the shakehand grip. Therefore you should choose the grip that you feel most comfortable with and only you can answer that. You could give some consideration to the coaches and players that are near you. If you have good coaches and players who can teach you one grip better than the other then that might be the grip to use.
With regards to the push, watch our video on keeping the ball low as it gives you some practical ideas to help you push the ball lower.
